Oh most sweet God you love me so,
Yourself you give me here below.
Appearing but as humble bread,
Divinity comes, our Church’s Head!
Vast heavenly hosts do Thee adore,
Yet you desire me ever more.
You fill me with Eternal Light,
Through precious union we unite.
The earliest Christians, they all knew
This bread and wine is Truly You.
John 6 is clear, still many fear it:
“This saying is hard; and who can hear it?”
But be your features glorious or plain,
In You your faithful will remain.
Your lame, your poor, your most, your least,
Rejoice as one in Eucharistic Feast.
