My dear brothers and sisters,
You are not alone. Many of us sense there is something very wrong happening in our beloved homeland and the world at large. Perhaps an equal number feel like they have been slipping in and out of an unnatural fog. We have been exposed to fear-mongering, distraction and confusion for much of our lives but the fear has been ramped up to a non-stop barrage; one might even say a fever pitch in recent years. Ask yourself…why? Who stands to gain? Certainly not “We the people.” I believe recent events in Italy shed a great deal of light on our own situation. The following is a verbatim excerpt of a speech from Georgia Meloni, the newly elected Prime Minister in Italy.
Georgia Meloni speaking to a large audience:
“This is about what we are doing here today. Why is the family an enemy? Why is the family so frightening? There is a single answer to these questions. Because it defines us. Because it is our identity. Because everything that defines us is now the enemy for those who would like us to no longer have an identity and simply be perfect consumer slaves. And so they attack national identity, they attack religious identity, they attack gender identity, they attack family identity. I can’t define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother. No! I must be citizen X, gender X, parent 1, parent 2. I must be a number. Because when I am only a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect slave at the mercy of financial speculators. The perfect consumer.
That’s the reason why. That’s why we inspire so much fear. That’s why this event inspires so much fear. Because we don’t want to be numbers. We will defend the value of the human being. Every single human being. Because each of us has a unique genetic code that is unrepeatable. And like it or not, that is sacred. We will defend it. We will defend God, country and family. Those things that disgust people so much. We will do it to defend our freedom because we will never be slaves and simple consumers at the mercy of financial speculators. This is our mission. This is why I came here today.

Powerful words from a woman of conviction. And wouldn’t you know it? Every world news source seems to be in lockstep agreement about Georgia Meloni. That fact in itself should give us pause considering politics is a complex and touchy subject but it’s the parroting rhetoric that rings strikingly familiar:

My question to you is this: What sort of ideology causes people to label those who love, serve and defend God, country and family as “far-right extremists” and why is this very same labeling now the norm in Italy, England, Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, Australia, Canada and America, just to name a few? The answer is difficult to comprehend and even more difficult to accept but please look at the overwhelming evidence and decide for yourself whom you will serve. If loving God, country and family is viewed as “far-right,” it is only because the principalities, powers and world rulers of this present darkness* are clearly so far-wrong. Thankfully this battle is far from over and the war has already been won; they just haven’t gotten the memo.
* “We are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness.”(Ephesians 6:12)

Almost 40-years ago, Cardinal Carlo Caffarra (Archbishop emeritus of Bologna and the founding president of the pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family) received a hand written note from Sr Lucia of Fatima which ended:
“Father, a time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family. And those who work for the good of the family will experience persecution and tribulation. But do not be afraid, because Our Lady has already crushed his head.” -Sr Lucia of Fatima
