ABBA, FATHER!

Oh Abba, Father! How I love thee! You are so good, so kind, so merciful, so loving that you desire to share the abundant joy of your very self with each and every one of your children. Your providence, Abba is unmatched. You wrap us in an unbreakable embrace of fiery love which incinerates all earthly bonds and frees us from ourselves; from our fallen natures which imprison us within our own minds and delusional identities.

We are not how much money we make. We are not where we went to school. We are not our past mistakes and failures or our achievements and victories. We are not our health or fitness. We are not our jobs. We are not our emotions or our thoughts. We are are the little, unchanging part of our consciousness that notices and experiences all things. The part free from ego. The part that tells us we’re sad is not the sadness. The part that notices we are depressed is not depressed. This priceless part of us cannot and will not die with the body. This part of us is designed and gifted for intimacy with God.

The world attempts to keep this eternal part of us, our soul mostly dormant. Why? Because this is where our power lies. So the world tries to distract us, to frighten us, to confuse us, to drug us, to divide us, to numb us, to entertain us, to give us comfort but there’s one thing it will never do. One thing that is fully beyond its power and opposed to its very nature. It will never love us with a perfect love. Nothing can or ever could compete with that and the worldly powers that shouldn’t be know it.  Our rulers, alphabet agencies and institutions know it. They are painfully aware of it. And so they keep us focused on anything but intimacy with God.

Fandom of God, on the other hand is perfectly acceptable to the world because there’s very little power in it. It appeases our own appetite for worship by fueling our imagination but generally keeps us far from the powerful, palpable, life-changing presence of God which can and will infuse us and transform us. This intimacy can be found by spending time in the classroom of silence. As we completely release our claims to all worldly things, we become truly aware in the present moment. Not a typical moment riddled with incessant thoughts, worries, fears or judgements but a moment of littleness, quiet in the mind, profound wonder and deep gratitude. This is where the mighty, immortal omnipotent God awaits us with open arms. Here he yearns to meet us. Here he gently takes our hand and strolls with us through the serene and carefree garden. The infinite garden. The garden of God. Paradise.
